About Stock Analyzer
What is Stock Analyzer?
Stock Analyzer is an iOS app that evaluates stocks and ETFs using fundamental analysis. It scores 19 financial metrics across four categories — Value, Quality, Dividend, and Volatility — and assigns each an A through E rating. The goal is simple: help investors see whether a stock's fundamentals are strong before they buy.
The app covers over 30,000 stocks and ETFs, with data updated at least once per hour. It's free to download, with an optional Pro upgrade for power users who need unlimited analysis.
How the scoring works
Each of the 19 criteria is compared against established ranges used by financial analysts. For example, a Price-to-Earnings ratio between 10 and 17 earns an A rating, while a P/E above 25 earns a C. Every letter maps to a point value (A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1), and the overall score is the average of all individual ratings, converted to a percentage from 0 to 100.
The four scoring categories are:
- Value — DCF, P/E, PEG, Price-to-Book, Price-to-Sales, Free Cash Flow Yield, Price-to-FCF, Piotroski F-Score, Altman Z-Score, Price Target
- Quality — ROIC, ROE, Debt-to-Equity, Rule of 40, Gross Profit Margin, Sustainable Growth Rate
- Dividend — Dividend Yield, Dividend Payout Ratio
- Volatility — Beta
Each metric is explained in detail in the Stock Fundamentals Glossary.
Data sources
Financial data is provided by Financial Modeling Prep (FMP), which aggregates data from SEC filings, earnings reports, and market feeds. Stock prices and fundamental ratios are refreshed at least once per hour. Historical financial data updates when new quarterly or annual reports are filed.
Who built this
Stock Analyzer is built by Antoine van der Lee, an iOS developer and the author of SwiftLee. The app is developed independently with a focus on making fundamental analysis accessible to everyday investors.
